imos: Pioneering UL MCV Certification in Taiwan’s Accessory Industry
imos is the first brand in Taiwan’s accessory market to adopt UL’s Marketing Claim Verification (MCV) at scale. With a spirit of innovation and a commitment to pushing boundaries, we believe that truly trustworthy products should stand up to scrutiny — and be owned by those who need them most.
Each UL MCV mark represents a verified marketing claim reviewed by UL Solutions. The mark includes a unique identifier that consumers can scan to access detailed information about the product’s verified claims.
The purpose of this verification program is to promote the circulation of safer, more reliable products in the consumer market — helping to protect personal well-being and property. Products that earn UL verification contribute to greater market confidence and long-term stability.

Water contact angle on the surface coating remains ≥ 100° per JIS R3257 after 10,000 friction cycles
Verification Method
The product is assessed as follows:
Initial contact angle measurement – Intravenous drip method based on JIS R3257
– Place the specimen horizontally on the test bench.
– Use a syringe to place one (1) drop of water (~2-5 µl) in five (5) different locations on the surface of the specimen.
– Using a contact angle meter, measure and record the five (5) contact angles of the water droplets and average the readings.
– The average contact angle must be equal to or greater than 100° to proceed.
Surface rub (friction) step
– Use steel wool #0000 with a 1 kg load to rub the surface of the mobile phone screen protector from “top to bottom to top” of the protector to complete one cycle.
– Repeat for a total of 10,000 cycles.
Final contact angle measurement – Intravenous drip method based on JIS R3257
– Place the specimen horizontally on the test bench.
– Use a syringe to place one (1) drop of water (~2-5 µl) in five (5) different locations on the surface of the specimen.
– Using a contact angle meter, measure and record the five (5) contact angles of the water droplets and average the readings.
– The average contact angle must be equal to or greater than 100° to support the claim.

Quick Q&A: About UL and MCV
Q: What is UL Solutions?
A: UL Solutions is a global leader in product safety and verification, part of the renowned UL enterprise founded in 1894. They help industries ensure product safety, data security, and sustainability performance, offering services in over 100 countries worldwide.
Q: What does MCV stand for?
A: MCV stands for Marketing Claim Verification, a program by UL Solutions that independently verifies whether a product’s advertised claims—such as features or performance—are accurate and trustworthy.
Q: How does UL verify MCV claims?
A: Product claims are tested using internationally recognized standards such as ISO, ASTM, MIL, and IEC. For example, sapphire glass with a Mohs hardness of 9 is verified using ISO 6769, a standardized scratch resistance method. The resulting data provides solid, scientific proof of the product’s claimed hardness level.
Q: What are the benefits of passing UL’s MCV (Marketing Claim Verification)?
A: Once a product passes MCV testing, the brand earns the right to display the official UL Verified Mark on its packaging and advertisements. This mark includes a unique ID code that consumers can use to look up verified data directly on the UL website.
It builds consumer trust, boosts credibility in advertising, and empowers distributors to confidently promote the product. The result is a win-win-win for brands, retailers, and customers — elevating both perceived value and trust in the market.
With UL as a trusted third-party verifier, products with multiple MCV certifications help filter out exaggerated or unverified claims. This gives distributors a stronger sales pitch, enhances brand reputation across retail channels, increases customer confidence and repurchase rates, and ultimately contributes to a healthy, transparent, and thriving sales ecosystem.
